The Wireless Access Control Report 2023 has been released, providing crucial insights and forecasts for the future of security and access management. Conducted by IFSEC Insider, the survey includes the views of 400 professionals across security, IT, and facilities management and incorporates expert analysis from Omdia and ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions.
Richard Sharp, Director of Product Line Management at ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions, expressed his pleasure in unveiling fresh perspectives on the digital evolution of access. The Report, he mentioned, specifically focuses on the broader impact of access control on business intelligence, sustainability, and cost efficiency.
According to the Report, the era of convenience has truly dawned. It underscores the prevailing preference for adaptable and user-friendly technologies, which 93% of those surveyed agreed should be easily integrated with existing building systems. Sharp added, “In the modern context, security is more or less a given. The new challenge for access control is to enhance business efficiency and reduce costs.”
One noteworthy development spotlighted in the Report is the growing utilization of mobile credentials in organizations of various sizes. This aligns with the overall theme of convenience.
Furthermore, the report unveils the critical need for connected intelligence across organizational functions, including the marriage of cyber and physical security. A mere 12% of respondents felt fully ready for impending European cyber-security laws. Sharp warns that there is a definite “cyber-security knowledge gap,” and it is time to strengthen both systems and awareness.
